What Will We?
Blog Post 79
Muharram, 27, 1447 – July 23, 2025
(While this blog post is mostly about the genocide in Gaza that does not mean our hearts and souls do not bleed for all the brutalities inflicted by the zionist entity and its supporters, especially the US, which have resulted in so many shaheeds in Lebanon, Yemen, the Islamic Republic of Iran and other places.)
My husband, son and I attended a conference in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) very recently and the question was asked: “What can we do?”, regarding the genocide in Gaza. While the answers from several ulama were thoughtful and correct, they ended up in an unsatisfied and sad feeling. Overall, the conference was excellent and valuable. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala bless the ulama, organizers, volunteers and attendees.
Those of us who do not live in nor are martyred in Palestine, but care deeply and mourn the horrific slaughter of the innocent people, the evil of the shaitanic massacres, destruction and total wipeout of a whole section of humanity, also suffer and are affected by what we witness. However, let us be clear, it is NOT happening to us, at least not now. We are not in the “warzone,” being shot, bombed, herded, denied medicines, health care and aid and starved. To turn it back on us and how we feel, how we suffer, how we can’t take it, is ultimately a selfishness that can result in the hardening of our hearts. It can result in apathy, despair, loss of hope in Allah’s Mercy, loss of our Islam. This is not about us.
And yet it is.
Each person who witnesses this grave injustice and atrocity that’s reaching its two-year mark, astaghfir Allah, whether directly by being present on the ground such as the victims, medical workers, journalists, activists, or are witnesses through the loss of family and friends, or are part of the vast majority who witness the absolute cruelty via the news, social media, word of mouth, etc., are involved whether we want to be or not. Even those who don’t “witness” it because they’re indifferent, on the wrong side, or don’t want to know, are involved, too, and their price will be heavy in the Hereafter.
So what will we?
Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala has given each of us the ability to ascertain ways we can feel, speak and act that are beneficial to the people of Gaza and Palestine, the mustazafeen, the cause of justice, the fight for Islam. At the very least, we feel the pain. At the very most, we stop it.
A sister at the conference said that it’s very difficult for us to feel the pain – it’s overwhelming for us. That’s true, no doubt. The answer was to take a break, only take it in small doses. We all have a certain capacity, it was said. While it’s an okay answer, it’s still making it about us. How much we can take? How much we can stand of the misery? The use of the word capacity, in my opinion, sounds like an object. It’s a measurement of a thing, the amount a thing can hold. We are human beings. Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala has provided us with a great amount of ability to feel. And yet, it is true, as the answer went on, it is very difficult to watch a genocide without being able to do anything to stop it. It is not mentally and emotionally and physically healthy. It is very difficult. And yet there are many things we can do. Things we must do because the victims are in it and they cannot stop it without our help and the Help of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala.
We were not alive during the times of the Prophets and the previous Imams, peace and blessings be upon them. We were not alive on the Day of Ashura when Imam Husayn and his family and supporters, peace and blessings be upon them, were martyred on the plains of Karbala. We were not alive during the "crusades." We are alive during the occultation of the Twelfth Imam, Imam Mahdi, peace and blessings be upon him, and we are actively and patiently awaiting his return with Prophet Isa, peace and blessings be upon him. We are alive during this dastardly genocide in the Holy Land. We must stand up and be counted, inshallah.
“Say: ‘The evil and the good are not the same
even if the abundance of the evil astonishes you.
So fear Allah, O those of understanding
so that you may be successful.’”
(The Holy Qur’an: 5:100)
Here's a very short list. Please add to this list whenever you’re inspired to do so, inshallah.
1.Make duas to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala to give the people of Gaza and Palestine the strength and patience to endure the genocide and to not lose their faith in His Mercy.
2. Make duas to Allah Subhahanhu wa ta’ala to make the Muslims victorious, to vanquish the taghoot and the mustakbereen, to wipe out the zionists and zionism once and for all.
3. Fully understand that the people of Gaza are shaheeds who are sacrificing everything for truth and justice. Do everything you can to love, honour and support them on a daily basis. Centre and lift up their and all Palestinian voices.
4. Demand that your masjid, church, synagogue, etc., school, university, union, workplace, etc. get involved in the fight against the oppression and genocide in Palestine and Gaza.
5. Make time daily for learning about Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala and His Prophets, Islam, self-building, enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong, working towards a just society and world, etc… (Some ulama at the conference mentioned some of these points, Al-Hamdulillah.)
6. School yourself and others on the true causes of the genocide, who the oppressors are and who the oppressed are and be clear about that.
7. School yourself and others on who are fighting against the oppressors and side with them.
8. Maintain a link with the ulama who are on the right side and are providing direction for us. (An alim at the conference mentioned this, Al-Hamdulillah.)
9. School yourself and others on what zionism is and speak out against it and the genocide against the people of Gaza. Do this whenever and wherever you can.
10. Either individually or better yet join a group or organization that is providing assistance and support to the people of Gaza and Palestine and participate, whether monetarily, protests, rallies, demonstrations,* teach-ins, vigils, dua sessions, letter-writing campaigns to government officials, editors and news outlets, sign petitions, actions against companies that provide arms and funds to the zionist entity...
11. Participate in the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.
12. Stop purchasing products that are owned by zionists which provide funds to the zionist entity. Make sure your money is not supporting human rights violations and genocide.**
13. Write blogs, articles, books and/or create artworks about the genocide, zionism, the fight against injustice…
14. Support the call to justice and work toward bringing the guilty to their day in the international court of law so they can be punished on this Earth.
15. Hold and attend meetings, seminars and conferences to inform and unite people about zionism, the zionist entity, the genocide and the oppressors’ clasp on the global community and their attempts to suppress our voices.***
16. Support those who have faced persecution for their calls for justice in Gaza and Palestine.
17. Donate to reputable humanitarian relief agencies that support Gaza and Palestine.
18. Assist Palestinian refugees in your area and around the world.
Please Note: Whatever we do together will enable us to feel and be united and spiritually and emotionally whole. That is what Islam is all about – community and togetherness as an Ummah – worshipping, praying, crying, loving, living, working, protesting, supporting...
“No! We hurl the truth against the falsehood
and it breaks its head.
Then Behold! It is vanishing.”
(The Holy Qur’an 21:18)
THE VICTORY OF TRUTH!!!
Inshallah…
Remember you don’t have to be a Jew to be a zionist
and every Jew is not a zionist.
Recent former “leaders” who said they’re a zionist
are Joe Biden and Justin Trudeau.
And prime minister Mark Carney almost a month ago said
he wants to see a zionist Palestinian state!
Notes
*At the conference when my husband mentioned about how we can get masajids to advocate and direct the people to attend the protests and demonstrations in and around the GTA, an alim said that protests and demonstrations were not that effective. That answer is unfortunate because being in the streets is what the oppressors fear the most. That presence in the streets, those voices, those bodies amplify the power of the grassroots people because that action is visible in a way that can be more effective than sitting at home talking about it, writing about it, praying about it. It embodies the intention, preparation, movement, cost and stamina to get your literal body and voice out of the house and into the streets. We have been there for Palestine ever since the first International Quds Day that Imam Khomeini declared and Imam Khamenei endorsed, may Allah be pleased with them, way back in the early days of the success of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 in Iran, Al-Hamdulillah. Our Imam asked us to attend International Quds Day and we do, Subhanallah. We know that being in the streets was the catalyst that sent the shah packing. This Arbaeen (the 40th day after Ashura) is something you should look up if you haven’t before. It is an absolutely amazing show of support of iman and truth over kufr and falsehood. It is “the world’s largest annual gathering in one place” and this year the pilgrimage culminates on August 15, 2025 in Karbala, Iraq, inshallah. The zionists and the oppressors all over the world fear Arbaeen and Muslims and their supporters “being in the streets.” As well, in many places worldwide, the zionists have stayed/hidden at home and not displayed their Israeli flags on their cars and persons in towns and cities where protests and demonstrations against the zionist entity take place. They are too scared. My teacher friend told me that in a local school board the zionists were scared if a student/teacher wore a keffiyah, too terrified to come to work. They were traumatized, they said, when they saw one. Always the victim… She also told me that thankfully the school board changed the symbol for official board material concerning religious diversity to a menorah from the zionist flag because it was decided the flag was a political symbol and not a religious one. It stood for a “country,” not a religion. Al-Hamdulillah.
**It is very important to pay close attention to the products we use. The zionists own just about everything because they buy out small and even large companies, creating gigantic corporations and people don’t realize it all belongs to them. Look at the food and drinks, cleaning supplies, health and body products, clothing, shoes, games and sports equipment, cars, furniture, appliances, everything, everything you buy is most likely owned by them and the money goes to the zionist entity to kill people. Also choose somewhere to work that is not owned by zionists, please. Your money is haram if you work for them. For example: “Amazon – invested $7.2B in Israel in summer 2023, delivers to settlements. $1.22 billion contract to provide cloud technology to the Israeli government and military” – (For all who ask us why we don’t sell on that company!) – You can look up the list of companies online.
***As well, the zionists have a stranglehold on the world. We are becoming increasingly aware of this monopoly and the power they wield and we can see that it is slowly crumbling because the zionists are so brazen and arrogant and vicious in their demand that they are the ones in power, they are the “chosen,” they are the most intelligent, they are the richest, ad nauseum… The amount of people who have been fired, ousted, bribed and shamed around the threat of “antisemitism” is outrageous. Everyone knows they control the media, arts, banking and finance, universities, governments, presidents/prime ministers/etc., weapons industries, militaries, police, prisons, internet, AI, etc., but they also control our food supply, water, medicines, minerals, utilities, gas, entertainment, transportation, housing supplies, etc., etc., etc. One of the specialist doctors at a local hospital came under their gun and “disappeared” from her position as head of the department last summer, although it’s so hush-hush and everyone’s scared to say what happened to her. One of her “replacements” made it clear that “she wasn’t her friend” when we asked if she was okay (meaning “Is she ill?”). It is important to remember that there are many, many countries in the world that DO NOT allow the zionists into their countries, nor do they allow their citizens to travel to the zionist entity nor do business with them, they do not import their products nor do they export anything to them. We in the west must make more of an effort to understand what’s happening worldwide and join the global movement to squeeze and ultimately squelch them once and for all. We must stop being their “slaves.” Inshallah.
